Interfusion as a pioneer in sustainable tourism Research & Development

Interfusion Services Ltd alongside FAR a social start- up company that deals with smart solutions, products and services for beaches, and Upcycle.Club (https:// www.facebook.com/ UpCycle.Club/) an independent think tank ( think-tank) dealing with sustainable development in modern cities, announces their successful participation as exhibitors in the Local Workshop organized by the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment in collaboration with the Municipality of Germasogeia on: Closing the Circle: Challenges and Solutions" held Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 10:00 - 13:00 at the Londa Hotel, Limassol.


The local workshop was held in the framework of the implementation of the European project Interreg Med 'BlueIslands' (https:// blueislands.interreg- med.eu/) led by the Department of the Environment, attracted policy makers, experts from local authorities, public, private and decision makers.

The workshop began with the inaugural greeting by the Honorable Mayor of Germasoy Kyriakos Xydia, followed by the presentation of the Interreg Med project "BlueIslands" by Ms. Athena Pananastasiou, Environmental Officer from the Department of Environment of the Government, as well as good practices in tackling the problem of plastic pollution in Mediterranean tourist destinations.


Afterwards Mr. Timos Miseris, Health Officer of the Municipality of Germasogeia presented "Good Practices and the Role of Local Authorities". Then Mrs. Eleni Makkidou, ANEL European Project Officer presented the Interreg Europe "EURE" and "2Lives" projects.

The workshop concluded with an open discussion as well as an exhibition of alternative products in the use of plastic.Interfusion Services had the opportunity to present selected innovative solutions developed in the framework of EU co-financed projects.


Programs such as FUPOL (www.fupol.eu), the SmartGov project (https:// www.youtube.com/watch? v=dZFCGiqpV-E), and the SOCLIMPACT project (http://soclimpact.org/) aimed at modeling at the local scale the impacts of climate change on Europe's islands and islands for the period 2030-2100 in the context of the EU Blue Economy and estimates the corresponding discharge of carbon energy systems, thereby supplementing current forecasts available for Europe and supplying current economic models with out-of-market estimates of climate change, developments, solutions and applications in the smart sectors and sustainable development for the benefit of various socio-economic sectors.
